Sideways Stories from Wayside School - Spring 2006

April 20, 2006 - May 21, 2006

By Louis Sachar
Adapted by John Olive
Produced and Directed by Stephen Michael Rondel

Based on a popular series of children's books by the award winning children's book author Louis Sachar. Wayside Elementary School is a wacky world where Myron, Dameon, Leslie, Rhondi and Bebe attend class on the top floor of their 30 story school. (An architect accidentally built the school's 30 classroms on top of one another rather than side-by-side, but the school is actually only 29 stories high because there is no 19th floor!) As if that wasn't odd enough , the school day is filled with tornado drills, talking pigtails, and wicked teachers who turn students into apples. Amidst all this craziness, the students learn some wonderful lessons about life!

"Sideways Stories is more than a lesson on good behavior for children. It is also a lesson on how children's theater can be clever without being dull, and amusing without being dumb."
